Lenses

wholeheartedly I believe 
that its difficult to truly see 
without your eyes guiding me 
so lend me your lens
and I'll lend you mine 
I'd deeply love to see your side

sometimes mine will make things glow 
and yours for me, I always know
that I see farther, wider- clear
I know that mine does the same for you 

so lend me your lends 
and I'll lend you mine 
we'll choose to see each others sides

Strawberries

Strawberry stained lips
and the rush to find peace
but it doesn't quite go that way
I know I need to drop the race

Instead I'll keep the color close
I'll touch and feel the red
I won't throw the green away 
I'll keep it nearby

I'll taste the sweet
and grow into rest

So slow my step 
and still my heart
I know you wait for me

My dear friends

They leave the porch light on for you 

And paint their room the deep sea blue 

Together exploring the winding path 

Some days so bright some days feel dark

But knowing that best is up ahead 

And betting on healing for each other 

They've felt the waiting room pain so raw

the voices raised that have carved the ache

And the invisible strings that suffocate 

But their plants get water every day 

And even when it seems to fade, 

They know that growth is here to stay 

Redemption

I'll fight to be free

even when waves of elm come over me 

and claws of raven dig in deep

no real bed to sleep 

I'll fight to be me 

down the sunny slope

in no way taught to cope

but I find

that the river runs wild and wide

it splashes me with grace on every side

and I'm mesmerized by redemption 

Change

The rules set in stone 
follow them dusk till dawn 
Feeling accomplished at the end of the day 
Played by the books
but no room for change 

Rewrite the page, start a new stage
Time to play a daring game 

Wielding the words 
"Darling",
"I'm sorry”, 
And "I need you" 
Sitting close to the moon and experiencing brand new 

Vulnerability open & clear
Letting the water take me there 

Look at the ocean & see what I see 
comfort & beauty is in the change of the waves 

Sunset Sightings

Sunset sightings together forever

Dreaming always for each other

She dreams for me to climb taller trees, 

Feel the deeper pain 

To look inside & be alive 

wrestle fight & make my own 

Those rivers in my heart

let them carve out stone 

I dream for her to feel enjoyed 

To know the laughter never ends

there is mercy new at dawn 

answers come & go 

but forever her heart glows 

Sunset sightings together for ever 

Dreaming deep for one another 

Silver River

We turn our eyes away 

We both play the same hurt game 

If there is no time to dwell

There's no room for sorrow

(We once thought) 

But in the space there is pain & grace

The clouds roll through 

And the wind blows new

And we've fought it out alone 

Come back to being home 

We were never disconnected,

It's just the hurt game we play 

But now were flying free at dusk

The wild berry popsicles drip 

And there is a stunning silver river,
painted in the sky
It sings of hope and change, and new

Our eyes stay
In all there is grace
